Sebastian: You want my advice? Get her, like, a bird. Or a puppy or something.
John Grogan: A parakeet or something?
Sebastian: Something other than you that she has to take care of. You got a kid, you’re a dad. You’re not you anymore. You got a dog, you’re a –
Sebastian & John Grogan: Master
Sebastian: You’re still a guy
John Grogan: Still got a life
Sebastian: Exactly
John Grogan: And a dog
Sebastian: Yeah, but you’ve stopped her clock for a few years.
John Grogan: I’ve never had a dog
Sebastian: There’s nothin’ to it, you feed’em, you walk’em, you let’em out every now and again. But it doesn’t really matter. You’re not the one that’s gonna take care of it, Jenny is.

John: Hey. We’re home. Hi. You know the baby thing? I’ve been thinking, maybe we should take a break. You know? I mean, obviously it’s not working and it’s nature’s way of saying now’s not the right timing. I mean, maybe it’s a sign that we’re not quite ready for this, that…I mean, have you really thought this?

Jen: John, I'm pregnant.
John: Great. Mm-hmm. Wow. Great. Really?
Jen: Yeah.
John: Yes.
Jen: You were--You were just saying--
John: No, don't worry. That was, like--It sounds so awkward now, like I just have this, like...very, you know, idiotic soliloquy that doesn't apply...and I'm really excited.
Jen: Do you want to start over?
John: I would love to. That would be great. Can we?
Jen: By all means.
John: Good!
Jen: I'm pregnant!
John: What? No! Yes!

 

 

 

John: Here’s the thing. In about two minutes, we’re gonna bring home the baby, and you’d be doing me a really big favor if you didn’t freak out. And I’m gonna try to do the same.

John: Are you ready?

Jen: I’m ready. Yes.

John: OK.

Jen: Hi, come here. Hi, baby. Oh, hi. Hi, sweetie. Hi, Marley. Come on. Come here. OK?

John: Marley. It would be a bummer if you ate the baby. Just…

Jen: Look, Marley, this is Patrick.

John: Not to be confused with a chew toy, although it may look like one. Say hi. See, honey? He’s not eating the baby. Very good.
