《Summertime》，這首歌是蓋希文的歌劇《乞丐與蕩婦》 (原名：《Porgy and Bess》)裡頭的名曲，這首歌很多爵士樂手都翻唱或演奏過，這首曲子被翻唱的次數在音樂史上僅次於Beatles的《yesterday》，據估計約有2,600個不同的錄音版本。西風第一次聽到這首曲子是小時候電視上所演的布袋戲《雲州大儒俠》裡面孝女白琴出現時的歌曲，因為布袋戲角色白琴的關係，當時總認為這是一首悲傷的歌曲，長大之後才知道原來這是著名的作曲家蓋希文的作品。
它是第一齣黑人歌劇，也是爵士樂首度以歌劇形式在劇院中演出。《Summertime》的歌詞，是一首搖籃曲，但旋律聽起來卻很憂鬱心酸的感覺，因為這齣歌劇是描寫20年代美國南方黑人如何在遭壓迫與困苦環境下求生存的關係，歌劇本身的音樂風格也是爵士與藍調曲風。
